Officials respond to 'suspicious' fire in Bradenton

CEDAR HAMMOCK -- Cedar Hammock Fire Department responded to a fire behind 4422 20th St. W. at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Witnesses reportedly saw several juveniles running from the location just prior to the fire being seen.

The backyard of address of the fire is bordered by the Gates of Bradenton Apartments. Residents reportedly said it is used by juveniles and yound adults to smoke cigarettes and marijuana due to the large overhanging trees, according to the sheriff's office.

The fire was contained to paper trees in the backyard in an area about 50 feet long by 20 feet wide, according to the report.

There were no injuries during the fire or structure damage.
