MANATEE -- A 19-year-old Bradenton man was jailed Monday due a dispute over a TV remote that turned into a physical altercation, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Daniel Louis got into an argument with his girlfriend over who was going to use the TV at 8:31 p.m. Monday in the 3900 block of 24th Street West, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.
The report doesn't say what shows they each wanted to watch.
Louis grabbed his girlfriend's wrist and twisted it, trying to get her to release the remote from her hand, the report states.
Once Louis got the remote, he threw his girlfriend to the ground and straddled her, according to the report.
The girlfriend kicked Louis in the groin to get him off her, which was successful, the report states.
The argument reportedly ceased for a few minutes.
But Louis went to the couch where the girlfriend was eating her food, grabbed the food, threw it on the ground and then hit her in the upper torso, the report indicates.
The girlfriend went to the kitchen, picked up a knife, called 911 and kept the knife in her hand until a sheriff's office deputy arrived, according to the report.
While the girlfriend had the knife, the couple reportedly argued over the cell phone, the report states.
No one was injured.
Louis remained in the Manatee County jail Tuesday on a charge of domestic battery, according to the sheriff's office website. He was being held without bond.
