Man beaten, robbed in Bradenton

BRADENTON -- A man was beaten and robbed while walking along 14th Street West in Bradenton early Tuesday, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

About 4:17 a.m., officers responded to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where the victim was being treated for his injuries.

Police said the man was in the 1900 block of 14th Street West when he was attacked and "severely beaten" by five males, including at least one who was armed with a baseball bat.

The robbers took the victim's wallet and a gold necklace, police said.

The investigation was continuing.
