Gold Coast Eagle to host scholarship info session

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- Gold Coast Eagle Distributing and the Step Up For Students Scholarship Program will host a scholarship information session from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the distributing company's facility.

Gold Coast Eagle, a Step Up For Students donor, is offering the event to encourage Manatee- and Sarasota-area families to learn more about the scholarship program, which helps low-income students attend a private school of their parents' choice or use a transportation scholarship to attend an out-of-district public school.

There are nearly 800 students in Manatee and Sarasota counties who benefit from a Step Up scholarship and 37 schools that participate in the program.

At the information session, families will learn about the scholarship program and will have an opportunity to apply for scholarships for the 2014-15 school year.

Scholarship applications for the 2014-15 school year are now available. For more information, including eligibility requirements, families can visit www.stepupforstudents.org/family.

Gold Coast Eagle is at 7051 Wireless Court, Lakewood Ranch.
