Recap: UC Santa Barbara vs. Cal State Fullerton

Santa Barbara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting from Alan Williams, the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos easily downed the Cal State Fullerton Titans, 80-65, in a Big West Conference matchup at the UCSB Events Center.

Williams added a game-high 18 rebounds for the Gauchos (18-7, 9-3 Big West) as they posted their sixth win in seven tries. Zalmico Harmon finished with 20 points and dished out 10 assists and Michael Bryson chipped in with 14 points in the win.

Michael Williams led all scorers with 29 points for the Titans (9-17, 4-8), while Alex Harris added 13 points as the squad lost for the second time in the last three outings.

UCSB opened the game on a 13-2 run and took a 34-21 lead at the half. The Gauchos shot a healthy 52 percent from the field in the period, including 2- of-6 from 3-point range. Fullerton was held to just 27.3 percent from the field and 2-of-7 from beyond the arc.

After trailing by double digits for most of the half, the Titans got as close as eight with little over three minutes to play, but that was a far as they would go as the Gauchos coasted to victory. UCSB knocked down 61.9 percent of its field goal tries in the second half to put the game away.

The Gauchos finished with a 24-14 scoring edge from the free-throw line. Both squads took good care of the ball, each suffering just seven turnovers.
