Boy, 16, faces charge for punching man who made 'racial comments' to him

— A 16-year-old boy was facing a battery charge after he punched a 56-year-old man who made "racial comments" to him, Bradenton police said.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. in the 1400 block of 12th Avenue West, according to a police report.

The adult victim "fell to the ground and could not get up" and suffered lacerations to his left knee and left elbow, the report states.

The boy was taken to the juvenile assessment center.
