Alternative Thinkers Group: The group meets 1-4:15 p.m. Feb. 22 at South Manatee Library, 6081 26th St. W., Bradenton.

Tom Miller will discuss the topic "What is this thing about mountains?" followed by a video dialogue with Ramtha and a discussion. Cost: free will donation. Information: 941-702-0308.

Sons of Norway Lodge #538: The group meets for a short meeting and a Norwegian Surf and Turf dinner at 3 p.m. Feb. 23 at Faith Lutheran Church, 7750 Beneva Road, Sarasota. Smocking Arts Guild of America: The group meets Feb. 26 and every fourth Wednesday of the month at the South Manatee County Branch Library, 6081 26th St. W., Bradenton. The group promotes education and quality workmanship in the fine needle arts including smocking, heirloom sewing, fine machine sewing, fine hand sewing, embroidery and the related needle arts. Swiss-American Club: The group meets at 6 p.m. Feb. 27 and every last Thursday of the month at Saltwater Cafe, 1071 N. Tamiami Trail, Nokomis, for a social gathering called "Stammtisch," where friends meet for a bite to eat and chat about their life experiences. They celebrate typical Swiss events such as Swiss Independence Day on Aug. 1 and enjoy bi-monthly picnics at Oscar Scherer State Park and various other events such as dinners/lunches on specific dates throughout the year. Gulf Coast Porcelain Artists: A group of both Manatee and Sarasota will be meeting 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 14 and the second Friday of every month September-May at the Fruitville Public Library, 100 Coburn Road, Sarasota.
