Recap: Wofford vs. Furman

Spartanburg, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Karl Cochran scored 23 points and dished out five assists as the Wofford Terriers cruised past the Furman Paladins, 70-50, in a Southern Conference battle at Benjamin Johnson Arena.

Cochran connected on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor, and hit 5-of-7 from 3- point range for Wofford (16-10, 10-3 SoCon). Lee Skinner grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds for the Terriers, who have won nine consecutive games dating back to Jan. 18.

Keith Belfield scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds to pace Furman (8-18, 2-11). Stephen Croone netted 13 points, and Kendrec Ferrara chipped in 10 for the Paladins, who have lost six of their last seven games.

Wofford came out hot in the first half, drilling 50 percent of its shot attempts, including 4-of-7 from beyond the 3-point arc, to take a 36-17 lead into the half. Furman shot a dismal 23.1 percent from the floor, and hit just 1-of-10 from deep.

The Terriers maintained their 50 percent shooting touch in the second frame, this time hitting 3-of-6 from 3-point distance. The Paladins did all they could to rally, hitting 64.7 percent of their field goal tries in the half, but ultimately the lead for Wofford was too great.

Wofford outrebounded Furman, 35-28, in the contest, and held a 20-8 points off turnovers margin. The Terriers held a lead as large as 23 points in the win.
