Bradenton man jailed on assault charge

BRADENTON -- A 26-year-old Bradenton man was in the Manatee County jail Monday after he was charged with aggravated domestic assault with a firearm, false imprisonment and other charges.

Oscar Leorius Mabry IV was arrested Friday in the 1500 block of WoodWinds Lane, according to a Bradenton Police Department report.

At about 6 a.m., Mabry kicked in the front door to a residence on WoodWinds Lane he does not live in and began waving a Taurus 9mm handgun that had been in his waist band, the report states.

Once inside the home, Mabry kicked open the door of a locked bedroom and confronted a female victim, according to the report.

The victim and Mabry have two small children in common but do not reside together, the report adds.

During the approximately two hours he spent in the home, Mabry didn't allow the victim to leave and told the victim he was going to kill her, the report states.

Mabry also struck the victim's left cheek with his fist, according to the report.

Mabry was also charged with possession of a weapon and ammunition by a convicted felon, battery and burglary to a dwelling, the report states.

The handgun Mabry carried was loaded with 9 mm bullets, according to the report.

Mabry was being held at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $380,000.
