People living in closed Jiffy Lube in Bradenton

HERALD STAFF REPORTFebruary 17, 2014

MANATEE -- People have been living in the old Jiffy Lube building at 2605 Cortez Road W., according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies checked out a tip Sunday and discovered people had kicked in a window in the back of the building and were living inside, according to a sheriff's office report.

"Saw evidence of homeless people sleeping down in the bays," the report stated.

There was a loft area over the customer service area where deputies found pillows, blankets, clothing and food.

No one was inside when deputies went in, the report states.

Deputies taped the window shut and have attempted to get a message about the situation to the property owner, the report states.
