Muscara, Stone win City of Bradenton Senior 2-Man Championship

Amateur golf: Muscara, Stone win city title

BRADENTON -- Chris Muscara and Jim Stone unseated two-time defending champions David Brown and Greg Shires on Sunday in the final round of the 2014 City of Bradenton Senior 2-Man Championship at River Run Golf Links.

Muscara and Stone set a new tournament record with a 63 and 65 for a 128 total to win by three strokes over Brown and Shires.

Jeremy Gale and Charlie Hamel won the first flight by three strokes with a 140 total. Donald Cain and Ken Schwartz shot 147 to win the second flight by four shots, and Jerry Blackwell and Tom Miller won the third flight by a stroke with a 161.

Juco baseball: SCF batters FSC-Jacksonville

BRADENTON -- The State College of Florida Manatees improved to 8-2 for the season behind the shutout pitching of Reggie McClain(3-0) over seven innings in a 13-1 victory over visiting Florida State College-Jacksonville.

McClain struck out seven and scattered five hits. Tyler Souris pictched two innings in relief and had three strikeouts and gave up the lone run to the Blue Wave.

SCF's hitting attack against was led by Alex Pinero (3-for-4), Ryan Valdes (2-for-4, two RBIs), Danny Lee 2-for-3) and Justin Garcia (1-for-3, home run, three RBIs).
