Sarasota male scooter driver killed in Saturday collision

SARASOTA — A male scooter driver in Sarasota was killed in an accident at 8:40 p.m. Saturday on Clark Road and Honore Avenue.

ID of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.

The victim was eastbound on a 2013 Bash 50 scooter, not wearing a helmet, on Clark Road approaching the intersection with Honore Avene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A Dodge Caravan driven by a 41-year-old male from Thonotosassa was westbound on Clark Road approaching the intersection with Honore when the scooter made a left turn on a red turn signal directly in the path of the minivan, according to FHP. The collision ejected the driver from the scooter and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP.

No one in the minivan, including the driver and three passengers, were injured, according to FHP. No charges are pending, according to FHP.
