Recap: UC Irvine vs. UC Riverside

Irvine, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Dominique Dunning scored 20 points off the bench to lead the UC Irvine Anteaters to a 70-52 victory over the UC Riverside Highlanders in a Big West Conference matchup at Bren Events Center.

Alex Young tallied 11 points and Chris McNealy added 10 for UC Irvine (17-9, 8-2 Big West), which has won four straight.

Taylor Johns recorded a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds for UC Riverside (8-17, 3-8), which has lost four of the last five. Sam Finley chipped in 11 points

The Anteaters shot a pedestrian 42.9 percent from the floor in the first half, but it was better than the Highlanders, who turned in a 33.3 percent effort in the frame. UC Irvine led, 36-29, at the break.

In the second half, the Anteaters improved to 46.7 percent, while limiting the visitors to only six field goals.

UC Irvine outscored UC Riverside, 18-8, off of turnovers.
