SCF baseballteam suffersfirst 2 losses
The State College of Florida baseball team suffered their first two defeats of the season Saturday at Robert C. Wynn Field, dropping 9-4, and 3-2 decisions to Florida State College of Jacksonville.
Danny Lee had two hits in the first game for the Manatees (7-2), while Ryan Valdes and Sean Trent added two hits apiece. Cory Reid was 2-4 with two RBIs.
Hurler Alain Girman took the loss, giving up four runs on four hits in five innings while striking out two.
In the second contest, Lee again had two hits to go along with two RBIs, and Valdes added two more hits, but SCF couldn't pick up its pitcher. Evin Lynch took the loss despite fanning eight batters and allowing three earned on six hits over four innings.
SARASOTA 12, MANATEE 2 -- The host Sailors (1-0) scored five runs in the first inning and plated eight unearned runs for the game to knock off the Hurricanes (1-1).
SEFFNER CHRISTIAN 7, BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 2 -- Hunter McGarry led the visiting Panthers in a losing effort by going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Tyler Lyke added a double off the top of the fence.
