Birmingham, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Tre Drye scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Tulane Green Wave edged out the UAB Blazers, 86-80, in a Conference USA bout at Bartow Arena.
Louis Dabney netted 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting for Tulane (14-12, 6-5 C- USA). Cameron Reynolds came off the bench to score 11 points in the win. The Green Wave have won three of their past four contests.
Chad Frazier tallied 21 points to pace UAB (15-10, 4-7), while Rod Rucker chipped in with 17 points and nine rebounds. Robert Williams notched a double- double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Denzell Watts contributed 10 points off the bench. The Blazers have lost four of their last five games played.
Tulane came out scorching hot in the first half, netting 70.4 percent of its shot attempts, including 8-of-12 from 3-point distance and grabbing a 46-38 lead at the half. UAB connected on 46.4 percent of its shots in the frame.
The Green Wave cooled off in the second period, netting 41.7 percent of their field goal tries, and missed all nine 3-point attempts in the half. They did connect on 20-of-29 from the free-throw line, though. The Blazers hit an even 30 percent from the floor in the second.
Tulane had the edge in bench points, 31-16, and outscored the Blazers from 3- point range, 24-12. UAB won the battle in second chance points, 20-13.
