— Manatee junior Jesse Fulk and Lakewood Ranch freshman Hunter Reed advanced to the finals of the FHSAA state wrestling meet before falling Saturday at the Lakeland Center.

Fulk, who holds the Manatee single-season wins record with 59, was pinned by Kissimmee Osceola's Fox Baldwin in 4 minutes, 55 seconds in the Class 3A 160-pound state final. Baldwin, who won his third straight state title and finished 49-0 this season, defeated Fulk three times in 2013-14. Fulk went 59-1 against all other wrestlers.

Fulk pinned Eric Perez of Cooper City in 1:49 in Saturday morning's semifinals. He will meet Fox Baldwin of Kissimmee Osceola in the finals, which begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Reed, who wrestles in the 106-pound division in Class 2A, was pinned by Brandon's Frankie Bruno in 48 seconds. Bruno finished the season 51-0. Reed's second-place finish at state was the best in Lakewood Ranch history.

Reed, who finished 48-7, advanced with a 13-3 major decision over Jarrett Roop of Tampa Jesuit in the semifinals.

Among other Manatee County wrestlers, Lakewood Ranch's Dylan Cameron (120 pounds) finished fourth in Class 2A, and Anthony Viscomi (126) finished fifth in Class 2A to become Palmetto's first state place-winner. Tyrek Hoyte (126) of Manatee was sixth in Class 3A, and Bayshore's Petro Marin (182) was sixth in Class 1A.
