Manatee woman robbed in Little Caesar's Pizza parking lot

February 13, 2014

MANATEE -- A 48-year-old woman was robbed at 9:15 p.m. Thursday as she emerged with a large food order from Little Caesar's Pizza, 4919 14th St. W., according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The victim was walking to her car in the parking lot when a white male suspect appeared from the front of her vehicle and grabbed her brown purse from around her neck. The suspect was described as in his 20s, about 6-foot tall weighing about 170 pounds, wearing a white cap and shorts.

The victim tried to hold on to the purse but the suspect pulled it so hard the strap broke and she was knocked to the ground.

The suspect then ran north, then east on 49th Avenue Drive, deputies reported. The suspect was seen throwing the purse into a waiting full-size Dodge Ram pickup truck, black with a silver bottom, which drove off with headlights off.

A witness gave chase and told deputies the suspect got into a black or dark blue Dodge Durango with a gray driver's front fender. The Dodge Ram was pursued by the bystander to Ninth Street East and 30th Avenue where it got away.
