Recap: Miss State vs. Georgia

Starkville, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 19 points from Charles Mann, the Georgia Bulldogs downed the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 75-55, in SEC action at Humphrey Coliseum.

For Georgia (13-10, 7-4 SEC), Juwan Parker added 16 points and Donte Williams pulled down 10 rebounds. Mann connected on 10-of-11 from the free-throw line in the game, and added six rebounds and five assists to his resume.

Craig Sword was the lone player for Mississippi State (13-11, 3-8) in double figures, finishing with 10 points.

Both teams struggled from the field in the opening frame. Georgia shot just 34.8 percent, including 1-of-6 from 3-point range, but held an 11-6 scoring advantage at the free-throw line to take a slim lead at the break, 28-27. Mississippi State made just 33.3 percent of its field goal tries, but was slightly better from deep, connecting on 3-of-12 from beyond the arc.

Georgia came out scorching in the second half, knocking down their field goals at a 73.9 percent clip. Mississippi State continued to have problems putting the ball through the hoop, shooting just 34.4 percent from the field and missing all 13 of its 3-point tries after halftime. Georgia used a 19-5 run early in the second to pull away, building their lead to as many as 23 points late in the period, as they cruised to victory.

Georgia outscored Mississippi State in the paint, 40-30. Georgia also finished with a 22-12 scoring edge from the free-throw line, and a 26-18 advantage in bench scoring.
