Cullowhee, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Trey Sumler tallied 24 points as the Western Carolina Catamounts posted an 83-75 win over the Furman Paladins in Southern Conference action at the Ramsey Center.

Brandon Boggs added 15 points for the Catamounts (14-11, 7-3 SoCon), followed by Tawaski King and James Sinclair with 13 points apiece, the latter adding 10 rebounds and six assists, while Tom Tankelewicz pitched in with 10 points off the bench as the team won for the third time in the last four outings.

The Paladins (7-17, 1-10) were led by Stephen Croone and his game-high 27 points, but still the team's losing streak was stretched to five in a row. Adonis Rwabigwi produced 17 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots, followed by Kendrec Ferrara with 12 points and seven boards in the loss.

Furman led by as many as five points in the first half, partly due to the fact that the Catamounts converted just 2-of-12 shots behind the 3-point line through the first 20 minutes, but the visitors still held just a 34-33 advantage at the break.

In the second half WCU bounced back with not only 6-of-14 accuracy on the perimeter and 55.2 percent from the floor overall, but also 12-of-13 at the free-throw line in order to lock up the eight-point home win.

The Paladins finished the night with 15 turnovers and only 2-of-12 shooting beyond the arc.
