Mitchell trips Manatee for FHSHA Lightning Cup crown

Mitchell won the 2014 Florida High School Hockey Association Lightning Cup Championship with a 6-2 upset victory Sunday over the Manatee Admirals at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

The No. 1 Manatee Admirals finish the year at 16-2-1 with the championship game loss. The Admirals were led this season by sophomore center David Tmej (24 goals, 13 assists, and his brother, freshman goalie Dominik Tmej. (11-0-1, 2.08 GAA, 2 shutouts).

The No. 2 Mitchell Mustangs also finish 16-2-1 with the victory. Junior goalie Trenton Parker earned the win after leading the league with a 1.61 goals-against average this season.
