Recap: Ohio State vs. Purdue

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - LaQuinton Ross led all scorers with 17 points, as the Ohio State Buckeyes dismissed the Purdue Boilermakers, 67-49, in Big Ten Conference action at Value City Arena.

Lenzelle Smith, Jr. chipped in 16 points and five assists for Ohio State (19-5, 6-5 Big Ten), which has won three in a row.

Kendall Stephens netted 12 points off the bench for Purdue (14-10, 4-7), losers of five of its last six. A.J. Hammons and Rapheal Davis scored 11 points apiece for the visitors.

Ohio State dug itself a 6-0 hole less than four minutes into the game, but it bounced back in short order with a 20-5 run and eventually took a 31-25 lead into the halftime locker room. The Buckeyes shot a modest 42.9 percent from the field in the first half but held the Boilermakers to just 33.3 percent shooting.

The Buckeyes' field goal efficiency improved to 50 percent after intermission. The Boilermakers got within three points of the lead with 9:23 left to play, but Ohio State ran away with the 18-point victory by outscoring Purdue down the stretch, 19-4.

Purdue lost the turnover battle, 15-7, and its miscues led to 18 Ohio State points.
