Logan, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarred Shaw registered a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 10 rebounds as the Utah State Aggies held on to defeat the Boise State Broncos, 76-70, in Mountain West Conference action at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
Preston Medlin knocked down all three of his attempts behind the 3-point line as he finished with 19 points for the Aggies (14-9, 4-7 MWC), followed by Kyle Davis and Spencer Butterfield with 15 and 13 points, respectively, for a team that has won two straight for the first time since December.
The Broncos (15-9, 5-6), losers of three in a row, were paced by Anthony Drmic with a game-high 26 points on 5-of-10 shooting beyond the arc. Derrick Marks added 21 points, Mikey Thompson 13 and Ryan Watkins seven, to go along with nine rebounds before fouling out.
Boise State got off to a quick start and led by nine just over four minutes into the opening period, but the team then allowed the Aggies to convert 51.9 percent from the floor in order to knot the score at 33-33 at the break.
In the second half momentum swung in favor of Utah State as the host converted 62.5 percent from the field, en route to the six-point victory.
The Aggies outscored BSU in the paint, 42-32, but at the same time the Broncos remained in contention by hitting eight shots from beyond the arc, compared to only four for the Aggies.
Boise State has now dropped all 18 games in the series played in Logan.
