Recap: Northwestern vs. Nebraska

Evanston, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Terran Petteway tallied 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists as the Nebraska Cornhuskers held on for a 53-49 victory over the Northwestern Wildcats in a Big Ten Conference battle at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Walter Pitchford knocked down 5-of-8 shots from the floor to add 15 points for the Cornhuskers (12-10, 4-6 Big Ten) as they collected their first true road win of the season.

JerShon Cobb netted 14 points for Northwestern (12-12, 5-6), which had a two- game winning streak snapped with the setback. Drew Crawford chipped in 13 points and six rebounds, but also committed five of the Wildcats' 13 turnovers.

Northwestern limited the visitors to 25 percent efficiency from the floor including a 2-of-11 clip from 3-point range in the opening period. The Wildcats took a 22-16 lead into the intermission despite connecting on only 38.1 percent of their field goal tries in the first half.

Nebraska heated up to sink 56.5 percent of its shots from the floor including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. The Cornhuskers overcame the halftime deficit and held a 44-36 edge on the scoreboard with just over six minutes remaining, but Northwestern used an 8-0 run to even the score with 3:52 left in regulation. The Cornhuskers scored the next five points and held off the Wildcats the rest of the way.

Both teams finished the contest with 31 total rebounds.
