Recap: Louisiana Tech vs. Tulsa

Ruston, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jaron Johnson netted a game-high 18 points as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs rallied for a 66-61 victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in a Conference USA bout at the Thomas Assembly Center.

Kenyon McNeail added 13 points off the bench for the Bulldogs (19-5, 7-2 C- USA) as they picked up their 11th win in their last 13 outings. Kenneth Smith went just 1-of-6 from the floor for six points, but also handed out a game- high seven assists.

Shaquille Harrison led Tulsa (10-12, 5-3) with 14 points. James Woodard tallied 10 points and eight boards before fouling out in the closing seconds of the contest.

The Golden Hurricane managed to take a 30-25 lead into halftime despite hitting on only 34.5 percent of their field goal attempts in the opening period. LA Tech converted just 5-of-11 shots at the free-throw line in the first half.

The Bulldogs continued to struggle at the charity stripe as they missed 12 of their 29 free-throw attempts after the break. The hosts knocked down 44 percent of their shots from the floor and limited Tulsa to 40 percent efficiency from the field in the second stanza. LA Tech trailed, 51-43, with just under five minutes left in regulation before it used a 16-4 run to take a four-point lead by the 1:42 mark of the second half.

Despite the loss, the Golden Hurricane enjoyed a 45-36 edge in total rebounds.
