Elon, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryley Beaumont registered 14 points and nine rebounds as the Elon Phoenix beat the UNC Greensboro Spartans, 72-66, in a Southern Conference clash at Alumni Gym.
Lucas Troutman and Kevin Blake each scored 13 points and tallied six rebounds for the Phoenix (13-11, 6-3 SoCon), who extended their winning streak to three games. Sebastian Koch added 11 points.
Kyle Cain and Tevon Saddler each had 16 points for the Spartans (11-14, 4-6), who have lost five of their last six contests. Cain added eight rebounds to his stat line. Kayel Locke logged 15 points and nine rebounds, while R.J. White cleared 10 boards.
Elon made 42.4 percent of its shots from the floor in the first half and led 35-25 at the break. UNCG shot just 28.1 percent on field goal attempts in the period, including 0-of-6 from 3-point range.
The Phoenix connected on 37.9 percent of their field goal tries in the second half. The visitors took a one-point lead with 10:47 left, but Elon promptly went on a 7-0 run to create some space.
Elon held a 46-41 rebounding advantage, and a 16-7 edge in points off turnovers over the Spartans.
