Bicyclist hit Jan. 28 in Bradenton dies of injuries

BRADENTON — A Bradenton bicyclist struck by a vehicle Jan. 28 has died of his injuries.

The 69-year-old man was struck in the 12000 block of Manatee Avenue West, according to a Bradenton Police Department report.

Due to the severity of his injuries, the bicyclist was transported to the Blake Hospital Trauma Unit for immediate surgery.

A BPD sergeant drove to the accident scene and started a preliminary traffic homicide investigation because the victim was so badly hurt.

The sergeant was notified Tuesday the victim had succumbed to his injuries, the report states.

The investigation is ongoing.
