Vikings name Turner OC, fill coaching staff

Eden Prairie, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer filled out his coaching staff on Thursday, naming Norv Turner offensive coordinator and George Edwards defensive coordinator.

Turner was the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns last season after spending the previous six years as head coach of the San Diego Chargers, posting a 56-40 record. Having also served as head coach of the Washington Redskins (1994-2000) and Oakland Raiders (2004-05), Turner has a career coaching record of 114-122-1.

Edwards served as linebackers coach for the Miami Dolphins the last two seasons. Prior to that, he was defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills from 2010-11.

The Vikings also named Mike Priefer special teams coordinator on Thursday.

Rounding out the coaching staff are: Robb Akey (assistant defensive line), Jeff Davidson (offensive line), Ryan Ficken (assistant special teams), Johnathan Gannon (assistant defensive backs/quality control), Jerry Gray (defensive backs), Jeff Howard (defensive assistant), Klint Kubiak (assistant wide receivers/quality control), Andre Patterson (defensive line), Drew Petzing (coaching assistant), Kevin Stefanski (tight ends), George Stewart (wide receivers), Scott Turner (quarterbacks), Kirby Wilson (running backs), Adam Zimmer (linebackers).
