SARASOTA -- Sarasota police detectives are attempting to identify a man who has been making fraudulent purchases with counterfeit debit cards using pin numbers in southwest and central Florida since 2012.

"The man uses the counterfeit debit cards at grocery and convenience stores in Sarasota County, Lee County, Charlotte County, Orlando and the Tampa Bay area," police said in a news release Thursday. "He makes large amounts of cash withdrawals and then leaves the stores."

Police said the man has kept the same appearance in all captured video surveillance: A plaid baseball cap, unshaven face and dark hair grown to the base of his neck.
