Nine Palmetto High athletes sign national letters of intent

— Palmetto High running back Josh Hicks led a nine-athlete contingent of Tigers athletes signing National Letters of Intent on Wednesday when he signed with Rutgers University.

Three other football players made their college choices official when defensive back/linebacker Luis Quinones and defensive back Deqwon Washington signed with Albright University, a Division III school in Pennsylvania, and defensive back Broddrick Waters signed with Bethune-Cookman. Washington had been expected to sign with the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Golfer Jessica McMillan signed with Florida Atlantic, while girls soccer players Ashton Knopf and Faith Rewis are bound for Coker College and Warner University, respectively.

Prolific scorer Gregorio Calvillo will take his soccer talents to Eastern Florida State, and baseball player Tyler Bench is headed to State College of Florida.
