Recap: Stanford vs. Arizona State

Stanford, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Dwight Powell scored 28 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists as the Stanford Cardinal held off the Arizona State Sun Devils, 76-70, in Pac-12 action at Maples Pavilion.

Chasson Randle chipped in 21 points for Stanford (14-7, 5-4 Pac-12). Josh Huestis scored nine points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds in the win. The Cardinal have won two of their last three games.

Jahii Carson paced Arizona State (16-6, 5-4) with 24 points, while Jermaine Marshall netted 22, connecting on 6-of-8 from 3-point distance. Jordan Bachynski pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds. Arizona State's three-game win streak comes to an end with the loss.

Stanford came out a bit cold in the first half, hitting 36.7 percent of its shots from the floor. Arizona State connected on 50 percent of its field goal tries, and took a slim 33-32 lead into the break.

Stanford hit 41.9 percent of its shots in the second half, while Arizona State's shooting percentage dropped to 33.3 in the period. The Cardinal turned their one-point halftime deficit into a six-point victory.

The Cardinal had the edge in rebounding, 40-32, and had a 28-12 advantage in points in the paint. The Sun Devils won the battle in points off turnovers, 20-13.
