Chapel Hill, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - James Michael McAdoo logged a double- double with 16 points and 13 rebounds for the North Carolina Tar Heels as they bested the NC State Wolfpack, 84-70, in Atlantic Coast Conference play at the Dean Smith Center.
Leslie McDonald had a team-high 20 points for the Tar Heels (14-7, 4-4 ACC), who won their third straight game. Marcus Paige and Brice Johnson added 15 and 10 points, respectively. Kennedy Meeks contributed eight points and 10 rebounds
T.J. Warren notched 21 points to lead the Wolfpack (14-8, 4-5), who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Desmond Lee and Anthony Barber supplied 18 and 12 points, respectively.
The Tar Heels shot 42.4 percent from the field in the first half, while their opponent struggled at just 25 percent. The Wolfpack hit just 1-of-7 from 3- point range, trailing 40-23 at the half.
The Wolfpack improved drastically to shoot 65.4 percent from the floor in the second half, and outscored the Heels who shot 38.9 percent. UNC's 15-of-17 at the line, however, helped it hold onto the lead, which they refused to relinquish.
The Tar Heels outscored the visitors 20-8 on second-chance points and outrebounded the Wolfpack 52-36.
