Masked men rob group at gunpoint outside Bradenton home

BRADENTON -- A group of men and a teenager were robbed at gunpoint by three masked men as they sat outside their residence Friday night, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The four adult victims, who range in ages from 30 to 43 years old, and a 16-year-old boy were sitting outside a home in the 900 block of 58th Avenue Drive East in Bradenton around 9:30 p.m. when they were approached by three men wearing masks and dark clothing, each armed with a handgun, the sheriff's office reports.

The masked men pointed their firearms at their victims and demanded money, the report states.

One man handed over his Samsung Galaxy cell phone and his wallet, which contained his ID card and $1,200 in cash.

Another man handed over his cell phone and wallet, which contained $370 in cash.

A third man gave up $75 in cash, while the fourth man gave the suspects his Samsung cell phone, according to the report.

One suspect pointed his gun at the teenage victim and threatened him, but he had nothing to give them, the report states.

The suspects told the victims to get on the ground; while they were doing so, one of the victims was struck in the back of the head with a pistol. That man sustained a small laceration and was later taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The suspects fled north behind the victims' residence. Patrol deputies and a K-9 unit responded but could not find the suspects, who reportedly fled in a creme-colored, older-model, four-door Chevrolet that had been waiting for them.

The investigation is ongoing.
