HERALD STAFF REPORTJanuary 31, 2014

Destiny Mahon

MANATEE -- Authorities say 19-year-old Destiny Mahon took her two infant children into a victim's residence without permission and completely sprayed the victim's bedroom with orange spray paint.

The children were not wearing paint masks during the spraying, which occurred at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 5500 block of 18th Street West, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.

Mahon, who was arrested Thursday, also punched the victim three times in the back before leaving with the children, the report adds.

Mahon was in the Manatee County jail Friday on charges of burglary with assault and battery and child neglect, according to the Manatee County jail website.

At press time, a bond had not been set for Mahon, according to the website.

When Mahon entered the home, the victim told her she was not allowed inside, the report states.

But Mahon continued to walk to the back bedroom carrying the infants.

The victim, who has severe scoliosis and did not want to confront Mahon, told authorities she heard a strange noise and walked to the back to see Mahon holding her infants and spraying the walls.

She tried to grab Mahon's hand and got sprayed with the paint, the report states.

Every wall was sprayed, including the ceiling, the report adds.

The report states that Mahon used to live with the victim at this residence but moved out nine to 10 months ago.
