Recap: UC Santa Barbara vs. UC Irvine

Santa Barbara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Alan Williams registered a double- double with 26 points and 10 rebounds as the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos cruised to an 80-60 win over the UC Irvine Anteaters in Big West Conference action at the Thunderdome.

Also scoring in double figures for the Gauchos (13-6, 4-2 Big West) were Taran Brown and Kyle Boswell with 16 and 10 points, respectively, as they won for the fourth time in the last five outings. Brown was a perfect 5-of-5 beyond the arc on the night.

The Anteaters (13-9, 4-2), losers of two straight, were paced by Luke Nelson with 26 points, shooting 6-of-15 behind the 3-point line, while Chris McNealy accounted for 10 points in the setback.

UCI had a hard time finding the basket in the first half, knocking down just eight field goals and 3-of-12 behind the 3-point line, en route to a 34-24 deficit at the break.

After hitting on 41.4 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes, UCSB made good on 60 percent following intermission, not to mention converting 19-of-27 at the free-throw line.

The Gauchos outscored the visitors at the charity stripe, 24-11, and also won the rebounding battle, 41-33.
