San Luis Obispo, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Corey Hawkins scored 16 points, leading four players in double figures, as the UC Davis Aggies posted a 62-58 win over the Cal Poly Mustangs in Big West Conference play at Mott Gym.
Ryan Sypkens accounted for 14 points off the bench, shooting 4-of-6 behind the 3-point line for the Aggies (7-14, 2-4 Big West) as they won for the second time in the last three outings. Avery Johnson and Georgi Funtarov added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Mustangs (8-12, 4-3) were paced by Chris Eversley and Dave Nwaba with 17 and 14 points, respectively, as the team bowed for the third time in four games.
UC Davis struggled in the first half, shooting only 9-of-25 from the floor, including 3-of-11 behind the 3-point line, not to mention failing to make a single trip to the free-throw line, en route to a 28-21 deficit at the break.
In the second half the Aggies turned it around with 63.6 percent accuracy from the field, 7-of-11 beyond the arc, as the visitors came from behind the capture the victory.
The Aggies, who shot only 6-of-13 at the free-throw line, outscored Cal Poly on the perimeter, 30-9.
