Manatee County government unveils new logo

HERALD STAFF REPORTJanuary 31, 2014

MANATEE -- Manatee County commissioners this week approved a new county logo to be used on county property and government-related publications beginning March 1.

"No special expenses are required as part of the new county branding," the county said in a news release. "The new logo will be incorporated on letterheads, business cards and county publications. Over time the county logo will replace the familiar explorer ship symbol whenever fleet vehicles, uniforms and facility signs are being re-ordered and updated as part of their routine replacement schedule."

The new logo is part of a rebranding project commissioners approved for the Convention and Visitors Bureau in 2012. Officials extended the use of the design last January with the rebranding of Manatee County Area Transit buses, shelters and benches.

The board also approved an ordinance that makes the familiar explorer ship the official county seal.

"For many years the symbol has been a de facto seal, but Tuesday's action will cement the seal for official use beginning March 1," the county said.

County vendors and business partners will be able to download the new sunshine logo from the county website beginning Feb. 7.
