Recap: UNC Greensboro vs. Appalachian St

Greensboro, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Potts came off the bench to score a game-high 26 points as the UNC Greensboro Spartans edged out the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 66-61, in Southern Conference play at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Kyle Cain chipped in 14 points and brought down 15 rebounds for the double- double, and Tevon Saddler scored 10 and grabbed seven boards for UNC Greensboro (11-12, 4-4 SoCon). The Spartans ended a three-game losing streak with the victory.

Tommy Spagnolo recorded a double-double for Appalachian State (6-15, 2-5) with 15 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Frank Eaves contributed 10 points off the bench in the loss. The Mountaineers have lost six of their last eight games.

UNCG shot a dismal 25 percent from the floor in the first half, and went into the break trailing Appalachian State, 34-21. The Mountaineers hit 37.5 percent of their field goal tries in the period.

The Spartans exploded in the second half, hitting 56.7 percent of their shots from the floor, including 63.6 percent from 3-point distance, to Appalachian State's 31.4 percent. UNCG outscored Appalachian State 45-27 in the second half for the comeback win.

UNCG had the edge in bench points, 37-20, and held the advantage in fast break points, 17-4.
