Lee Middle School to host school choice event Saturday

HERALD STAFF REPORTJanuary 30, 2014

BRADENTON -- Lee Middle School is hosting an open house Saturday for parents interested in the arts magnet school as their child's "school of choice" for the sixth grade.

This comes in the midst of Manatee County school district's school choice enrollment period, which runs through Feb. 7. It is the only time during the school year when parents can apply to have students attend a school outside their assigned zone without giving a specified reason.

"If your Manatee County fifth-grade student is interested in attending an exceptional arts school that also offers your student an opportunity to earn six high-school credits while attending middle school, then Lee Magnet Middle should be your school of 'choice,'" assistant principal Kristin Kreiling said in a press release.

From 8:30 a.m to 11 a.m. Saturday, there will be guided tours, performances and other introductory material. The school is located at 4000 53rd Ave. W.
