Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Paige poured in 19 points for the North Carolina Tar Heels, as they bested the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 78-65, in Atlantic Coast Conference play at McCamish Pavilion.
Paige also helped out with seven assists for the Tar Heels (13-7, 3-4 ACC), who have won three of their last four games. James Michael McAdoo and Leslie McDonald also scored in double figures with 17 and 15 points, respectively. Kennedy Meeks grabbed 10 rebounds.
Trae Golden scored 21 points to lead the Yellow Jackets (11-10, 2-6), who have lost four of their last five. Marcus Georges-Hunt and Daniel Miller added 17 and 12 points, respectively, with Miller adding five blocks.
The Yellow Jackets shot 43.5 percent from the field in the first half. The Tar Heels, in comparison, shot just 30.8 percent but sank two more field goals than their opponent and held a 26-25 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Yellow Jackets dipped to 40.6 percent from the floor while the Tar Heels improved to 66.7 percent. UNC also hit 16-of-20 at the free-throw line and never relinquished the lead.
The Tar Heels outrebounded their opponent 45-33 in the decisive victory.
