Wild birthday party fight in Bradenton results in skull fracture

January 26, 2014

BRADENTON — A birthday party ended up in a rumble at 3:16 a.m. Sunday, according to the Bradenton Police Department. Several subjects reportedly fought in the roadway at 2100 11th Street West.

One victim, punched several times in the face and head, sustained lacerations and bruising to face and was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Several witnesses told police an unknown person fired two rounds into the ground near the victim, possibly to break up the fight. BPD officers collected two 9 mm shell casings for evidence.

Police reported parties on scene were uncooperative and did not provide consistent accounts or suspect information. Even the victim initially signed a waiver of prosecution.

At 5:10 a.m., BPD officers were recalled to Manatee Memorial and told the victim had a skull fracture and brain bleed. The victim was transferred to Blake Trauma Center. The investigation continues.
