DUI saturation patrol nets 5 arrests in Manatee

— A county-wide DUI saturation patrol by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit resulted in five arrests and 24 citations, officials said Saturday.

The patrol, conducted between 7:30 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday, netted three DUI arrests and two arrests for driving while license suspended, according to a news release.

The citations issued included eight for speeding, one for a seatbelt violation, one summons for driving while license suspended and 13 "other" violations that include unknowingly operating a vehicle while license suspended or revoked, insurance violations and right of way violations.

Seven warnings were also issued, along with three correction cards for faulty equipment, authorities said.
