Recap: Tulsa vs. Middle Tennessee

Tulsa, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - James Woodard scored the final five points for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane as they came away with a 58-53 win over the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in a Conference USA matchup at the Reynolds Center.

Woodard had 16 points while Lew Evans registered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Golden Hurricane (9-10, 4-1 C-USA), who have won five of their last six contests.

Shawn Jones led the Blue Raiders (12-7, 2-2) with 22 points, nine rebounds and five blocks. Tweety Knight added 11 points while Neiko Hunter tallied five steals, although the latter shot just 2-of-10 from the floor.

Tulsa made 52 percent of its first-half field goal attempts as it led 34-26 at halftime. Middle Tennessee shot 41.7 percent of its shots from the floor, but just 1-of-6 from 3-point range.

The Golden Hurricane struggled in the second period connecting on just 5-of-20 from the floor. Woodard converted on a 3-pointer with four seconds left to put Tulsa up 56-53. With one second remaining Woodard was fouled and made both free throws to seal the win.

Tulsa held a 37-29 rebounding advantage in a meeting that featured nine ties and just as many lead changes.
