Two recent Bradenton home sales show real estate is on upswing

BRADENTON -- Residential real estate sales are on the uptick illustrated by two significant sales recorded this week.

A house with one of the best views of the Manatee River from the Bradenton shore has sold for $2.4 million.

Charles and Marilyn Slater purchased the 6,207-square-foot home at 5100 Riverview Blvd. from John and Deborah Ayres on Nov. 15, 2013. The record of the sale was filed with Manatee County on Jan. 16.

The sale was credited to David Moynihan, a real estate agent with Bradenton-based Wagner Realty. The property was originally listed by Premier Sotheby's International Realty in August. The list price was $2.65 million.

According to county re

cords, the home has four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and two fireplaces. It sits on 1.5 acres on Riverview Blvd. The back of the property is bounded by the Manatee River.

Manatee County Commissioner Michael Gallen just bought a new home in Bradenton.

The District 2 commissioner and his wife, Alexandra, purchased a 2,506-square-foot home at 2718 W. 3rd Ave. from Fannie Mae for $330,000. The home had been foreclosed upon in November.

The arts-and-crafts-style home was built in 2004. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, according to county records.

The home's last conventional sale was in 2006. County records show that Isabella Elliott purchased the home for $510,000.

Brenda Boyd May of Boyd Realty was the buyer's agent in the transaction.
