State Road 70 in East Manatee reopened after dump truck crash

MANATEE -- The eastbound lanes of State Road 70 at Creekwood/Tara boulevards have been reopened after a dump truck turned onto its said Thursday morning., authorities said.

The crash was reported at 10:46 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol website. By 12:10 p.m., the lanes had been reopened, according to the Florida Highway Patrol website.

Other details of the crash were not immediately available. It did not appear another vehicle was involved in the crash.

Earl Wingate, a Manatee County worker, was working on Tara Boulevard, when he heard the truck flip on its side.

"It sounded like a big bang," Wingate said. "He was just trapped inside. They had to bust the window to get him out."

The driver just had a cut on his head, but appeared to be in stable condition, he said.
