GAME NOTES: The UNC Greensboro Spartans will try to get back in the win column tonight, as they pay a visit to Southern Conference foe Samford.

Despite junior Nicholas Paulos' record-setting night, the Spartans come into tonight's contest off a 93-82 setback to Davidson last Saturday that dropped them to 3-2 n SoCon play.

Paulos drained a school-record nine straight 3-pointers and finished with 27 points, as UNC Greensboro had a three-game win streak halted. Paulos has hit 10 consecutive 3-pointers over his last two games, and is just five shy of tying Todd Leslie's NCAA record of 15 straight. Leslie set the record over a four-game stretch back in 1990 while at Northwestern.

Freshman guard Tevon Saddler added 20 points and dished out a career-high seven assists, and junior forward Kyle Cain scored 19 points for the Spartans, who stayed with Davidson for most of the contest until a late run put it out of reach.

After drawing to within 50-46 on a Saddler jumper early on in the second half, Davidson went on an 11-0 run to build a comfortable cushion and cruise to the finish.

Cain leads the Spartans with 15.9 ppg and 9.0 rpg. Kayel Locke and Saddler add just over 12 ppg, while Paulos, who has hit 41.9 percent of his 3-point tries, nets 10.6 ppg.

UNCG, which is 2-3 on the road this season, but has still won three of four overall, scores an average of 71.6 ppg while yielding 73.6 ppg.

Samford is also coming off a loss, as the Bulldogs fell to Western Carolina last Saturday, 67-64. Raijon Kelly had a chance to send the game into overtime, but his 3-point attempt at the buzzer hit the front of the rim.

Isaiah Williams scored a game-high 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field for the Bulldogs, who have now lost four of their last five outings. Tim Williams and Tyler Hood both added 11 points each for Samford, which has just one SoCon win in five tries this season.

Samford is 6-2 at home and remains at the Hanna Center this Saturday to face Elon.

Tim Williams leads the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding this season with 16.0 ppg and 6.9 rpg. He shoots nearly 60 percent from the field and is one of only two double-digit scorers on the roster. Isaiah Williams is the only other player who averages in double figures for the Bulldogs, scoring 12.2 ppg.

While Samford has been strong at home this season, it averages just 68.6 ppg and allows 75.9 ppg. The Spartans have the ability to score points and unless the Bulldogs can keep them at bay, it's going to be a long night for the home team.
