Buchanan aide to speak to E. Manatee GOP Club

MANATEE -- The East Manatee Republican Club will meet at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, the Peridia Golf and Country Club for lunch. Cost is $16.

Guest speaker Sally Tibbetts, district director for Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Sarasota, will discuss the congressman's plans for this session of the House of Representatives. RSVPs required.

Bone health expert to give free Longboat Key talk

LONGBOAT KEY -- The Aging in Paradise Resource Center is offering a free two-hour seminar at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, by Peter Simonson on "Everything You Need to Know about Bone Health, What Works, What Doesn't and Why." Carlos Escalante, an associate of Simonson, will take part in the seminar.

Simonson, president of Juvent Dynamic Motion Therapy, has more than 20 years corporate experience in the medical field, concentrating on product development, engineering and research related to bone health.

The seminar will be on the second floor of the Aging in Paradise Resource Center at Longboat Island Chapel, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Longboat Key.

BPD to swear in new officers, give promotions
