January 21, 2014

MANATEE -- Just before noon Tuesday, three of 12 flights listed on the website for Sarasota Bradenton International Airport were listed as canceled or delayed.

Canceled was a Jet Blue flight scheduled to depart for New York Kennedy airport at 11:23 a.m.

Also canceled were a Delta Airlines departure to New York LaGuardia airport at 1:44 p.m.

Listed as delayed is a United Airlines arrival from Chicago. It is now expected to land at 1:27 p.m.

At Tampa International, about 20 flights in and out of the airport were canceled early Tuesday with more delays expected to stack up later in the day.

The winter storm could bring 10 inches of snow Tuesday to New York and Philadelphia and bitterly cold air with wind chills as low as 10 degrees below zero later in the day.

Authorities warned of heavy winds and hazardous driving conditions throughout the day as the storm moves up the East Coast.

The federal government says its offices in the Washington area will be closed Tuesday due to the storm. Authorities warn the storm could impact the morning commute in Washington and Baltimore.
