Bradenton Christian boys, girls earn basketball victories

BRADENTON -- The Bradenton Christian Panthers boys and girls teams won their games Sunday at home against the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers of Valrico.

The boys game was a blowout for BCS, who beat Foundation 74-14. Leading the offensive attack for the Panthers (11-6) were Jake Lister (14 points), Ryan Leunk (13 points, nine rebounds) and Brett Hiskes (10 points, 11 rebounds.

Freddie Sourbeck led Foundation with six points.

In the girls contest, BCS prevailed 60-52. The host Lady Panthers (9-12) avenged a season-opening 45-41 loss on Nov. 15 to the opposing Panthers. Sophie Giardina led BCS with 21 points, and teammate Katie Swaagman tossed in 14.

Foundation (10-5) was led by Tory Self with 25 points.
