San Luis Obispo, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyler Lamb scored 20 points and came a rebound shy of a double-double as the Long Beach State 49ers topped the Cal Poly Mustangs 63-62 in a Big West conference test at Mott Athletics Center.
Mike Caffey totaled 14 points and Dan Jennings chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for Long Beach State (5-13, 1-3 Big West).
Cal Poly (7-10, 3-1), which had a three-game winning streak snapped, got 16 points from Chris Eversley and 10 from Kyle Odister.
In the first half the 49ers shot just 37.5 percent from the floor, but they had a 25-16 edge on the boards and eight more field goal attempts than the Mustangs, who shot 41.7 percent from the field in the period. Long Beach State led 32-29 at the break.
The 49ers were able to hold off Cal Poly in the second half by shooting 54.2 percent from the floor.
Cal Poly lost despite a 30-18 scoring advantage from 3-point range. Long Beach State held a 41-28 edge on the glass.
