Chapel Hill, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Paige had 21 points as the North Carolina Tar Heels defeated the Boston College Eagles, 82-71, in an ACC bout at the Dean E. Smith Center.
James Michael McAdoo logged 17 points, six rebounds and four blocked shots for the Tar Heels (11-6, 1-3 ACC), as they stopped a three-game losing skid. J.P. Tokoto registered 14 points, five rebounds and six assists, while Leslie McDonald and Kennedy Meeks each added 10 points.
Olivier Hanlan led the Eagles (5-13, 1-4) with 16 points in their fifth loss in the last six games. Lonnie Jackson chipped in 14 points, with Joe Rahon adding 13 points and six assists. Eddie Odio scored 12 points and Ryan Anderson tallied a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 12 boards.
UNC made 51.9 percent of its field goal tries in the first half and took a 36-32 lead into the break. Boston College kept pace by connected on 50 percent of its shots from the field including 6-of-11 from 3-point range.
The Tar Heels stayed consistent in the second stanza as they converted 52.7 percent of their field goal attempts. With 10:15 on the clock UNC went on a 15-6 run to create some breathing room. The Heels had no trouble putting the Eagles away from that point and avoiding their first 0-4 start in ACC play in program history.
The Eagles, who were charged with 18 turnovers, had all but five points scored by their starters.
